An event review by Ian K Duffield
On Saturday 7th February 2026 we gathered at Central URC in Sheffield to celebrate the volume of essays, Radical Disciple, that Rob and I put together as a Testament: to celebrate the life and thought and impact of John Vincent.
A wide variety of people turned up in person, and on line, some of whom I had not seen in decades. I introduced the volume, which would never have happened without Rob’s instigation and his great work in dealing with the American publisher.
Some contributors spoke, Rob asked questions, and some spoke freely of what was on their mind. Most important of all, as John couldn’t be with us, Chris Vincent attended in his stead and reassured us that his Dad appreciated the volume, and he brought copies of the book that John had managed to sign.
Some had already read the book; hopefully more have now read it and will commend it to anyone who wants to know about John and UTU. As Chris Sissons said, now we need someone to write John’s biography.
