July Forum 2019

What makes a good city? Series 3

Are we ready to send poverty to hell?

Wednesday, 17 July 2019: 12-1.30pm Open to all, free of charge.

Simon Duffy, Director of the Centre for Welfare will talk on his provocative title.  He has long been concerned about the increasing inequities of the Welfare system in this country. The respondent will be Rev Henry Ohakah, Methodist Minister in Woodseats .

Seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare. Jeremiah 29:7

We continue to look at the issues where faith and civic or public life overlap.

As usual our speaker’s theme after their address will be considered by a respondent, and then open discussion.

The Forums meet monthly on Wednesdays in UTU’s library area in the basement of Victoria Hall Methodist Church, Sheffield S1 2JB (entrance in Chapel Walk).  Bring your own packed lunch. Tea and coffee will be available. People of Christian faith, other faiths or none are all welcome.

Enquiries should be addressed to UTU: 0114 2709907 /office@wordpress-1151684-4277157.cloudwaysapps.com
