This autumn we are holding a series of three lunchtime colloquia at UTU with the theme: ‘What makes a good city?’ Most of us live in an urban environment but may give too little consideration to the elements that make that a good or bad environment in which to live. Many factors affect the environment, including architecture, transport, access to green spaces, cohesion, culture, quality of services like health and education and so on. For this series, we have chosen three factors that are arguably among the most important: economic prosperity, fairness and safety and security. Each of these themes will be introduced by a distinguished local speaker with relevant experience and responsibility. There will then be general discussion.
