Trustees are Trusted Friends

UTU is a member-led organisation but it is accountable to its members in different ways. Our Staff organised and Direct the charity but the vital work of trustees has always been key to the health of the charity.

There is a lot changing at the Urban Theology Union as we adapt ourselves to new challenges and aspirations. This is a great time to prayerfully consider becoming a UTU Trustee.

Any member of of the Urban Theology Union is free to put themselves forward as trustees.

Essentially, trustees do three things:

  1. Trustees make sure that what we do and say reflect our charitable aims.
  2. Trustees make sure we are legal.
  3. Trustees make sure we are financial responsible.

There is of course, a lot more to each of those three activities but without the work done by this group, UTU would not still be here – preparing to celebrate fifty years supporting urban ministry (1969- 2019).

Trustees meet together four times per year and are elected at the AGM in November (22nd November 2017).

Some trustees take on extra responsibilities as members of an Executive committee which meets with the Directors throughout the year.

New trustees are given a warm welcome and helped and supported into the role in ways that challenge and develop them and give them the opportunity to make an impact.

We currently have trustee vacancies and this is a great time to contribute at this level. To find out more please get in touch.
